Uncommon Sense

"Will my child actually become musical?"

Becoming musical is as natural a growth process as becoming verbal, when the environment supports the development of musicality as it does speech. Children learn to speak, with or without particular talent for language.  Every child can become musical.  Each will go through the process of becoming musical at his own pace.  He may become rhythmic before becoming tuneful, or become tuneful before becoming rhythmic, but musicality is accessible to all.  There is no such thing as a “bad voice” or a “bad singer.”  There are only voices that have not had the opportunity that your child has to be guided through the stage of Music Babble appropriately in order to develop musicianship.
