Uncommon Sense

"What if my child is precocious, or developmentally delayed?"

A child who is precocious or delayed physically, emotionally, or verbally, will not necessarily also be ahead or behind musically.  Music aptitude is independent of intelligence and physical abilities.  The gifted child is not necessarily gifted in music.  A gifted musician may or may not be gifted in other areas.  An underdeveloped child may be very strong musically, or very weak.  Further, a child who is gifted rhythmically is probably not gifted tonally, and vice versa.

The CCS curriculum is appropriate for music development, whether your child is 2 months or 2 years, developmentally advanced or delayed, as it reflects the sequential process of music learning and provides activities that develop the readiness to progress through the sequence.  Your sixth sense will guide you to tailor the activities to your child’s special needs, whatever the developmental level.
