Uncommon Sense

"What if I am not excited about music?"

You are excited about your child, and that is all that matters. You are probably not very excited about rattling keys, touching various textures, or eating baby food either, but your love for your own child takes you into these realms with great gusto. It is your child’s growth process that is exciting, whatever the medium. Your enthusiastic involvement in CCS Activities will provide for your child’s musical growth, regardless of your own passion, or lack thereof, for music.

Children’s needs and interests throughout childhood take parents into dimensions they might not otherwise pursue on their own. You may ultimately find yourself more excited about music than about castles or dinosaurs! If you cannot get excited about music yourself, tune into the wonder of your child’s musical development and bask in the delight of each new step, just as you do with language. The process of your child’s music development will be exciting, and you may find that your own musical imagination will grow along with your child’s.
