Uncommon Sense

"What if I have two children at different ages?"

CCS Classes are designed to meet your children’s musical needs at every stage of development. Each child should be addressed musically at his own level, through his own CCS Class, and the sibling’s Class will then serve as enrichment. With language, your younger child’s experience naturally includes expressions he doesn’t yet understand. You speak directly to the little one on his own level, and then he tunes into what he is ready for from the broader environment. Your little one will do the same musically with your older one’s Class, as long as he also interacts with a Class on his own level. The older sibling’s CCS Class includes Rhythm and Tonal Syllables and advanced activities, yet the basic meters and tonalities will speak to your little one.

Your older child is well beyond the little one’s level in both music and language, yet your musical interaction with your younger one at his own level invites your older one to serve as “music teacher” for the little one, reinforcing what the older one knows and stimulating confident musical response. Such opportunity to showcase musical prowess may make your older child more ready to engage in the younger sibling’s CCS Class than in his own!
