Ongoing Musical Development of Your Children

The thinking mind requires ongoing investigation and discovery in order to develop. So does the musical mind. The field of education values the development of the thinking mind, yet seems to value the musical mind only for what it can do for the thinking mind. It is time that the musical mind be given its own voice! Music may enhance learning, but the prime reason for nurturing music learning is not for the development of literacy, math and science. It is to develop the brilliance of the musical mind that is the birthright of every child, and to empower children with the wonder of their own artistry.

Educators would never overlook the capabilities of children to learn language or math, yet too often ignore the equally potent capability of children to learn music. Children deserve to grow in all dimensions—to develop as many avenues for success as possible; to become all that they are to become. It is up to us as educators to provide for their ongoing development in all dimensions, whatever our own strengths. Early childhood is the window of opportunity for learning music, just as it is for learning language. Both music acquisition and language acquisition are ongoing processes that take time and make possible a lifetime of rich experience. It is imperative that we become advocates for children’s music learning.

The Come Children Sing Institute offers many options for the continuation of your journey into music learning and for the continued, ongoing musical growth and development of your children.
