Unison Songs

Audiation, musicality, vocal/choral sound, vocal technique, and artistry develop best through unison songs. Only when a community of singers can sing consistently with a beautiful sound, passionate musicality in song and movement, and secure rhythm and tonal audiation in unison singing are they ready for songs in parts. The single line of a unison song provides the opportunity for singers to engage together in the development of a unified sound, to collectively build the energy of the line in song and movement, and to mobilize rhythm and tonal audiation into one ensemble voice. What more could one ask for the development of a choral ensemble? There is nothing more beautiful than unison singing, and it is the key to developing a quality sound and a unified ensemble. Voices singing beautifully and passionately in one voice are the finest demonstration of artistry.
